CaRP - why is he writing about fish?

Posted on 18 August, 2006

With all the frenetic activity of the past few days you can rest assured that I haven’t lost it! I wanted a good way to put an RSS feed onto one of my sites to keep the content fresh and also to provide some genuine information.

I tried a few scripts, incorporated some PHP myself, but nothing seems to work as well as CaRP (caching RSS Parser!). This script is fairly simple to install; you need to be able to set up a mySql database on your server or get your ISP to do it for you. Once set-up, you run the installation script and you can have any RSS feed you want published on your site. There is plenty of opportunity to customise, although you need to read through the excellent help files for this.

I have installed the FREE script (yep, it’s free for the basic yet functional version) here:

theWebBothy blog feed

which is a feed from this blog onto the BusyOutdoors.Com site. I have customised one feature and that is to make it an unordered list (bullet pointed).

To get the free version you need to register for the seven day email course through this link and you will be given download instructions:

7 ways to turn RSS into R$$

I like the simplicity of it all and also that it is free!
