Are you swamped by passwords and account names?

Posted on 19 December, 2006

If you are anything like me, and subscribe to quite a few newsletters, marketing accounts, affiliate schemes, blogs, forums etc. - the list is endless, you will probably have a lot of account names and passwords.  I got totally fed up entering names and passwords every time I wanted to post on a blog or forum and so I looked for an alternative.

If you use FireFox as your browser it has a reasonable password manager built-in, although it apparently has some security flaws.  It is fairly limited in its functionality though and won’t submit long and complicated forms.  I haven’t looked at IE7 as yet and investigated its password management.

What I have been using though for the last six months is a product called RoboForm.  It is available as a free trial and it I am very impressed with how much time it saves me.  You can save a user name and password for each site you visit, create a password or create custom fields to be filled.  This means that if, for example, you want to submit an article to multiple article directories, you can set up the common form fields such as "author, title" copy and paste the article content into another field.  Now when you visit each directory, all you have to do is use the RoboForm toolbar in your browser and click "Fill Forms" from the drop down and the job is done!

This is just one example of the time savings you can make with RoboForm and the free trial will enable you to make use of all the features (it’s just limited to the number of accounts you can create).  Here’s the link:
